Marlene graduated from the University of Toronto and earned 1) a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education with high honours, 2) a Master of Exercise Science specializing in Motor Control/Motor Learning, and 3) a Master of Science in Physical Therapy. Marlene’s post graduate education has included training in advanced orthopaedic manual therapy, and she is working towards a Diploma of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy. She has taken courses in acupuncture, soft tissue release, and temporomandibular joint disorders. Marlene is also a Certified Integrated Dry Needling Practitioner. Since becoming a mom, Marlene has taken a special interest in Pelvic Health rehabilitation. Courses completed include, 1) Incontinence, 2) Pelvic Pain, 3) Pre/Post Natal Care, 4) Caesarian Birth & Rehab, 5) Running Athletes, 6) Artistic Athletes, and 7) Menopause. Marlene’s approach to clinical practice is also influenced by 10+ years of coaching experience in gymnastics, including previously owning a successful competitive club. Her certifications in this sport are: NCCP Level 2 Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, Level 1 Trampoline, and Level 3 Theory. Lastly, prior to becoming a Physiotherapist, Marlene gained extensive experience in the field of motor behaviour, publishing research and presenting in national/international conferences. Her thesis work highlighted her knowledge of gymnastics by focusing on visual-vestibular interactions during a back salto and the ability to use sensory feedback to control landing stability. Overall, Marlene’s comprehensive training allows her to treat a variety of orthopaedic conditions, sports related injuries and pelvic health dysfunctions. Her treatment approach combines education, manual therapy, acupuncture and progressive exercise prescription to meet her client’s specific rehabilitation needs.

This initial visit will be our opportunity to learn about you in order to make the best possible Physiotherapy care plan based on your desired goals and outcomes. It will include sharing your medical history, addressing your physical complaints, and assessing the functional movements which can be contributing to those complaints.
