After working in (and getting burnt out by) Graphic Design for 18 years, my closest friends encouraged me to follow a life-long curiosity and enter Massage School. Graduating from Inland Massage Institute in March of 2020 and immediately being faced with the challenges of providing a medical necessity at the beginning of a pandemic proved to be an overall interesting experience. The human body is such an intensely fascinating marvel and I have not regretted a single second of the added level in my career portfolio. I continue to do design work for select clients and provide specialized care for my massage patients. Through several continuing education hours, I have completed hands-on training in Structural Release and several other introductory courses in multiple modalities. Every Body is different and requires a different approach.
Therapeutic massage is a technique of applying light or firm pressure, with different movement styles, using palms, fingers, and thumbs, over body muscles and tissues in order to restore better blood circulation, relax muscles, and stimulate soft tissues. Specific techniques involved would be effleurage, petrissage, or tapotement. This code is reported in units of 15 minutes for insurance reimbursement.
