PROFESSIONAL DISPOSITION: Alisha offers more than 20 year of combined experience as a RMT, seasoned athlete, mindfulness practitioner and health care professional. Her treatments and offerings integrate a keen understanding of the body’s systems, grounded in compassion (Metta = Love & Kindness). Her trainings in yoga, meditation, breathwork, reiki and other natural healing modalities offer a holistic and preventative approach to wellness. While her ‘niche’ Seasonal Somatics (Mind/Body awareness) practices help to ground participants in whatever ‘season’ of life they find themselves in. Cultivating a sense of intention and purpose that is flexible and constantly evolving. In the field of Massage Therapy, Alisha has experience treating many chronic conditions such as whip lash, herniated disc, SI dysfunction, frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, tendonitis. Acute issues such as sprains/strains and fractures. As well as nervous system issues such as nerve impingements like TOS, sciatic/pseudo sciatica, Parkinson’s, contractures, rigidity, dystonia, carpal tunnel, and other. QUALIFICATIONS & LIFE EXPERIENCE: Alisha completed her CMTO Requirements to become an RMT in 2020, graduating with high honours and an award of Academic Excellence from the Academy of Massage Therapy in Ottawa. Prior to her studies as an RMT, Alisha spent more than two decades as a seasoned athlete in competitive swimming (breathwork 101;), figure skating, synchronized skating, track and field in the US. She was introduced to Yoga and Meditation practices at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY in 2008. As a collegiate athlete, studying for her BA in Liberal Arts, the combined practices offered a means to further augment her athletic/mental performances. However most significant was their benefits to her overall mental health and wellbeing. Since then she has studied under many different mindfulness practitioners in the US and abroad. After moving to Canada in 2015, she underwent her Yoga Teacher Training at the Bhodi Tree Yoga Centre in Kemptville. She quickly discovered a passion for sharing the practice with others and has since facilitated more than 10,000 hours of private, public, corporate, mini retreats, workshops and more since 2016. In addition to her trainings as an RMT and university studies, Alisha has completed her nurse assistant training, dabbled in journalism, photography, has backpacked through Europe, North America and Australia. En brief, she has lived ‘many lives’ in this one – as we all have in our own unique ways. FUN FACTS: Alisha grew up in the foothills of the Adirondacks. She loves hiking, traveling and learning about the world around and within. Believes there is no greater teacher than nature and lived experience. Struggles to wear socks when in public ;) A momma of 3 little beings, a lover of books, running in the rain, cooking, silent meditation retreats, feeling the earth between her toes and sharing this one big, beautiful, humbling, chaotic life with others.
