I came to Chinese medicine by a roundabout path — an engineering degree in Istanbul, then Aikido, Tai Chi, and gong fu tea, which taught me to see the body not as a machine to be fixed but as a living system with its own intelligence. Healing isn’t something I give a patient; the body already knows what it needs, and my role is to listen carefully and clear the path. At the heart of my work is classical Chinese acupuncture and its view of the body as a complete, interconnected system of channels. What makes my approach my own is how I bring this together with Kiiko Matsumoto style palpation, drawing on it as each patient needs. My herbal practice is grounded in classical Jīng Fāng formulas. Having completed an advanced mentorship with Ann Cecil-Sterman, I continue my studies with her in the Eight Extraordinary, Luo, and Divergent Channel systems — the pathways that reach the deeper roots of chronic, emotional, and psychological concerns. I work with patients of all ages, from babies to elders — including chronic pain, autoimmune conditions, digestive issues, anxiety and insomnia, and pediatric concerns.
Your first visit is a full hour with Dr. Özben — her attention, start to finish. She practices classical Chinese acupuncture, and she'll begin by listening closely to everything that's brought you in. From there she shapes a treatment plan and begins treatment the same day, which may draw on any combination of acupuncture, cupping, manual therapy, moxibustion, gua sha, and nutritional counseling — whatever your body is asking for. You'll leave with a sense of where you're headed and the first steps already underway.
