Martin is a practitioner of Chinese medical massage. He was introduced to Chinese medicine while stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, as a US Navy sailor. A traditional Japanese doctor cured him of a troublesome illness that Navy doctors had no answers for, and after being discharged, he used the GI Bill to attend Chinese medicine school in San Diego and San Francisco. He graduated in 2014, and immediately moved to China to seek further training. He interned at an orthopedic clinic in Qingdao for about a year, and liked China so much that he stayed for five more as a student of the language and culture. In his spare time, he translates Chinese medical texts, and hopes to someday be a published author. He works intuitively and describes his style as a blend of acupressure and myofascial release, with elements of energetic work. He specializes in treating headaches, migraines, TMJ, neuropathy, fibromyalgia, frozen shoulder, bunions, arthritis and pain management.
60 minutes - A branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Chinese massage is a medical massage focusing on acupressure, myofascial release, and joint manipulation to relieve pain, promote the circulation of Qi and resolve physical and emotional tension.
