Dr. Raymond Pulmano graduated from University of California Santa Cruz with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. After graduation, his original plan was to attend dental or pharmacy school and began taking additional prerequisite courses for his applications. He had discovered chiropractic after he was involved in a motor vehicle accident and suffered neck and low back pain. After receiving one visit of chiropractic care at our very own SF Custom Chiropractic, he left the office feeling instantaneous relief. He changed his mind and pursued his Doctorate of Chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic in San Jose, CA. While attending Palmer College of Chiropractic, he tutored several classes on campus, including Biochemistry, Microbiology and Nutrition & Dietetics. He was also a lab instructor assistant for courses including Clinical Evaluation and Principles of Chiropractic. He was heavily involved in Sports Council and after completing his outpatient clinical phase early, he completed a six month internship with SF Custom Chiropractic at the Financial District location. Following the completion of his internship, he was offered a full time position as an associate chiropractor to begin at the start of January 2018. Dr. Pulmano is a full body certified, elite provider for Active Release Techniques and certified in Functional Movement Techniques, levels 1 and 2. He received the Clinical Excellence Award at the December 2017 Commencement for Palmer College of Chiropractic and also taught as part-time faculty for the College from 2021 until 2023. He was selected to serve on the Commencement Panel for Palmer College of Chiropractic’s Summer 2022 commencement. In 2022, he was selected by Active Release Techniques to join the treatment team at the IronMan World Championship in Kona, Hawai’i and provided care for many of the world’s top triathletes. In 2023, he became a Brand Ambassador for Active Release Techniques. As of 2026, he is Level 2 certified in Active Release Technique. Dr. Pulmano is a member of several non-profit organizations and communities in San Francisco including San Francisco Gay Softball League and has served on the Board of Directors for Gay Asian Pacific Alliance. He is currently a Board Director for Cheer For Life Foundation and a performing member and choreographer for Cheer San Francisco. In May 2023, he won the title of Mr. November 2024 on the 40th edition of the Bare Chest Calendar. Dr. Pulmano is now running SF Custom Chiropractic’s Castro location and is also the on-site chiropractor for Equinox Van-Mission and Barry’s Castro.
