Cathy Stephenson, BA, MS, BS Allied Health (PT), MSW, MSCAc, Certified Life Coach. As the founding member of Well In Montclair, my mission is to provide truly integrative care for every individual, couple, and family in our community. I bring together training in physical therapy, social work, Five Element acupuncture, and life coaching - focusing on holistic solutions for both physical and emotional concerns. My wish is for every community member to be “HEARD” and heard “WELL” so healing can be stable and sustainable. With nearly 30 years of experience, with 15 years as a co-owner at Focus Physical Therapy and Wellness in Montclair. My background spans neurologic rehabilitation, AIDS/HIV home care, orthopedic trauma, and post surgical recovery for complex pain and movement challenges. I approach care by looking beyond symptoms, and consider any past experiences and underlying patterns (physical, behavioral, or relational) that may influence each person’s healing process. I have particular expertise in women’s health, including cancer and mastectomy recovery, pre/postnatal transitions and perimenopausal wellness. While pelvic floor therapy expertise is available from another specialist in the clinic, I do support women through all life stages with tailored assessment, education and integrative resources. My care for men, women and adolescents includes both orthopedic and neurological cases and I welcome clients with unresolved or multifaceted health needs. Collaboration is at the heart of our practice. This might include working with your wider care team, life transition issues, stress factors, or supporting you in your relationships and families. The goal is to build solutions that enhance resilience, uplift mood and provide lasting wellbeing. It was always my intention to build a welcoming safe, secure space for all who come to us. I am endlessly proud to lead a team dedicated to integrative care, prevention, meaningful warm connection, and the best health for each client.

Orthopedic Physical Therapy Evaluation

Your first physical therapy appointment will address current concerns as well as past information pertinent to the issue. We will discuss how the injury and/or pain is impacting your life - this could include eating, sleeping and digestion. After a physical exam we can look at alignment and devise a plan of treatment. Together we can achieve the goal of improving your daily activities.
