With 25 years of practice, I bring a unique perspective to physiotherapy that combines clinical expertise with a life of finding joy (and the occasional heartbreak!) in movement and adventure. As a dedicated athlete who has competed in marathons, Ironman triathlons, and shorter distance races, I understand firsthand the challenges and aspirations that drive runners and endurance athletes. I have an endless curiosity about the connections between the many complex systems of the body, and have spent much of my career expanding my knowledge to create an integrated and individualized approach for each person I work with. My approach centers on neuropathic dysfunction, meaning that I look beyond the immediate injury to understand how the nervous system may be contributing to chronic or long-standing conditions. For acute injuries, I address the direct issue while also investigating underlying neuropathic factors that may have contributed to the problem. This comprehensive method has proven invaluable in my work with sports injuries, load management, repetitive strain, progressive injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, and return-to-sport programs. I’ve also had the privilege of contracting with the University of Manitoba Northern Medical Program, teaching and treating in Nunavut’s northern communities. Beyond the clinic walls, I have experience teaching whitewater canoeing and climbing, guiding four-season wilderness travel, and boxing competitively. I’m a father to three children, two grown and one teenager, and share my home with my dog Kona (aka Boo).
