Your appointment will begin with intake forms which include your history and questions about your sexual function, bladder, bowel, low back, hip and tailbone symptoms. After your intake forms have been reviewed, a physical assessment follows. The assessment varies depending on your symptoms, and may include an assessment of the low back, SI joints, abdomen, thighs, and a pelvic floor assessment. A pelvic floor assessment involves an internal exam looking for trigger points and assessing the strength in the pelvic floor. Once the examination is finished, your pelvic health physiotherapist will explain the results, and you may be given exercises or homework to do. You will be told how long treatment is expected to take, and when you should return. All subsequent appointments should be booked as a 30 minute follow up pelvic health physiotherapy treatment. This treatment is eligible for reimbursement to your extended health benefits, direct billing may apply.
