Donna is a Manual Osteopathic Practitioner with over 20 years of clinical osteopathic experience. She graduated from the Canadian College of Osteopathy after 7 years of training and the successful completion of an internationally accredited thesis on the Concept of the Fulcrum. Donna’s interest in allopathic medicine initially drew her to a career in Medical Laboratory Technology. Working in a hospital setting as a biochemist and immunologist, she developed a passionate interest in the body’s healing mechanism. After years of medical research, her interest shifted to include a more holistic approach. Further studies in Medical Intuition and Vibrational Energy Medicine contributed to her unique perspective on healing. A deep appreciation for both allopathic and holistic medicine eventually led her to the study of Manual Osteopathy, a treatment modality and art that perfectly marries the two disciplines. Highly sought as a consultant, her unique skillset allows her to get to the root cause of the patient’s issue. Incorporating electrotherapy adds a cutting edge technology to the services she offers. Sometimes all the body needs to activate the healing process is a gentle touch by a skilled hand; one that can read the body’s signals and perceive where an underlying restriction may be inhibiting proper functioning. Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that treats the body as a self-regulating whole or interconnected unit. It is based on an in-depth understanding of the direct relationship between the structure (anatomy) of the body and the function (physiology) of the body. This knowledge is applied to all diseases, disorders and dysfunctions in order to find and address the root cause of the issue. Diagnosis is based on the assessment of the position, mobility and vitality of each component part. Osteopathy recognizes the body’s natural ability to heal itself. The practitioner’s role is to facilitate the removal of blocks and interferences to unlock the body’s natural capacity for self-correction. “I believe that healing is inherent and that my job is to facilitate the removal of blocks and interferences, which will in turn allow the body to move toward self-correction and optimal health.”
