Heather obtained her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy with distinction from the University of Alberta in 2000. She is certified in Anatomical Acupuncture (2001) and Pelvic Health Physiotherapy (2008). In 2016, she received her Diploma of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy. She is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT). Heather has a passion to treat peri-natal and pelvic girdle dysfunction, back and neck pain, as well as the treatment and prevention of sports injuries through technique analysis and sport specific rehabilitation. She has training in Visceral Manipulation (Barral Institute) which is a helpful technique for women after cesarean section or other surgery. She has accreditation to teach Hypopressive Low Pressure Fitness . She has completed the ConnectTherapy series with Dr. LJ Lee; this is a whole body approach to assessment and treatment that greatly improves recovery. Heather’s interest in global health took her to Zambia and Tanzania where she volunteered in rural and urban hospitals in clinical and academic settings, as well as with an internationally competitive swim squad. In her practice, Heather strives to continuously advance her learning, to listen and to work with each of her patients to achieve their goals in therapy. Outside of work, she enjoys hockey, hiking, and keeping up with her two boys.
This women's pelvic health assessment is to evaluate and create an individual treatment plan for urinary and bowel issues, pelvic pain, prenatal or post natal concerns, peri-menopause symptoms or anything relating to the function of a women's pelvis! Often an internal exam is a component of the assessment.
