Michael, Doctor of Acupuncture, has over two decades of private practice experience. His approach bridges modern medical knowledge with the time-tested wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) — creating treatment that’s thoughtful, evidence-informed, and genuinely tailored to what your body needs. He works with muscle motor points, trigger points, and traditional acupuncture points alongside TCM diagnostics. Depending on your treatment plan, he may also incorporate electro-acupuncture, auricular therapy, cupping, or PNF stretching to get you the best possible results. Michaels’s areas of expertise: - Musculoskeletal issues: neck and shoulder pain, back pain, hip and knee pain, elbow pain (lateral/medial epicondylitis) - Nerve and pain conditions — sciatica, piriformis syndrome, cervical radiculopathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, muscle cramps/spasms, and more - Neuromotor and neuromuscular conditions — cerebral palsy, spinal muscular atrophy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and more - Headaches and Migraines - Sports injuries - Chronic pain - muscular/ skeletal, nerve pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia - TMJD - Pediatric care — musculoskeletal, neuromuscular/neuromotor, sports injuries, and chronic pain Michael’s background is extensive. He holds a B.Sc. from the University of Alberta, graduated from the Grant MacEwan Acupuncture Program in 2004, and completed an internship in China where he studied acupuncture, moxibustion, tai chi, and tui na. Over his career he has operated his own acupuncture clinic, run a volunteer community acupuncture clinic in downtown Edmonton, and spent years teaching at both the Calgary College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Grant MacEwan University’s acupuncture and massage therapy programs — helping shape the next generation of practitioners along the way. When he’s not in the clinic, you’ll find Michael out with a camera shooting nature and urban street photography, hiking through Kananaskis Country, or practicing traditional archery.
Your first acupuncture appointment will consist of an in-depth consultation, where the history, and current state, of the condition you are seeing treatment will be discussed, as well as an overview of your general health. The consult will be followed by your first acupuncture treatment.
