Nik’s passion for athletics, health and fitness began when he was introduced to hockey at the age of 5. Born in Fort McMurray and raised in Edmonton, Nik first completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Alberta before returning to the U of A to complete his Master of Science in Physical Therapy. Athletics and exercise have always been an important part of Nik’s life. He participated in a wide variety of sports growing up, including basketball, soccer, and baseball. However, Nik was most passionate about hockey, with his playing career finishing at the Junior A level in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Nik was first introduced to physiotherapy through his hockey career, and it was here that his frustration with his own rehab motivated him to become a physiotherapist. He has a strong interest in helping individuals decrease pain and achieve performance goals through building the required strength, control, mobility, and confidence. Outside of the clinic, Nik works as a team trainer with the Calgary Buffalo Hockey Association to help manage acute injuries throughout the hockey season. Since finishing his own playing career, Nik is an avid golfer, and considers himself a “hybrid athlete” incorporating both strength training and running into his own training. He is passionate about helping individuals understand the capabilities of their bodies and looks forward to helping patients return to the activities they love.
