Hailing all the way from Nova Scotia, Mitchell fell in love with exercise through hockey. His first personal trainer inspired him to consider Kinesiology, a degree he began during his last season of hockey. He played for 13 years, ending his career in Junior A after sustaining multiple concussions in the same season. His lived experience directed his research interests, having written his first academic paper exploring factors that influence mental health during recovery from sport-related concussion. Mitchell is a Practicing Kinesiologist with a Bachelor of Kinesiology with Honours from Acadia University. He is also a Certified WorkWell Assessor, competent in providing Functional Capacity Evaluations. His evidence-based approach to exercise aims to achieve a sustainable routine of physical activity to address the root cause of your symptoms and allow you to return to your valued activities safely. In his combined 5 years of experience as a Kinesiologist, he has tailored individual programs for patients experiencing acute injury, chronic pain, concussion, and those looking for exercise programming guidance. When not in the gym, Mitchell loves to go for walks and runs along Dallas Road, attempting to play the guitar (sorry, he’s not from that Rankin family) and connecting with family back out east.
