I, William Chan, graduated from CMCC aka Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College of Toronto in 1983. Did a quick tour of our Canadian east coast to New Foundland, commenced my practice in Vancouver at the end of 1984. I was able to purchase a practice in south Burnaby namely Middle Gate mall by early 1985. I decided to move to Northern BC by 2003 as I want to see the frontiers of Chiropractic. I settled in Quesnel BC, the local folks are super nice and mixed with some Indigenous people. I started to treat the local dirt bike kids pro bono and subsequent started to own my first off road dirt bike. They have hold local bike races every few weeks during the summer. After 3.5 years, I started to miss Vancouver plus my aging Mother was getting older I do like to spend more time with her and moved back. I have been concentrating on using Activator adjustment too since 1987. 87 was the first legal year to use Activator in BC. I took the course in Seattle and found it as versatile as Manual adjusting. Initially was not easy as we were all conditioned to hear a pop upon an adjustment. Fast forward to early mid 90s, we were allowed to use Modalities IE Laser, TENS and Ultra sound. I found the Laser and Micro current ( a branch of TENS with lower electrical intensity ) greatly benefitted and complemented my practice. And both equipment always stayed with me. The above gadgets did benefit my chronic sinus issues and hypermobility of my lower back. As a residence living in the dorm, we do benefit from technique studying groups, also being a double edge sword of being adjusted far too often. Subsequent to over adjusted (studies shown adjusting similar to cracking knuckles do help secrete Endorphins and create a small euphoric feeling after) My back did become addicted to adjustment even by twisting my own back. The first time I did Auriculotherapy (discovered by Dr. Nogier of France circa 1957) to the lumbar area I felt a tingling down my spine area. Thereafter I do not feel the urge of twisting my own back. About 2004 I studied Needle acupuncture with the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada, With the course I took, I can legally practice Needles AC in Ontario, Manitoba and Alberta. I was hoping someday soon I will be able to incorporate into my practice too. I personally benefitted in the area of reducing ear wax or Cerumen, sinus draining improved, Calcaneal heel pain. I am an avid cyclist, did rode from Whistler to Pemberton and back once during the late 80s. And now I usually ride a few hours a week. African djembe drums, Bongo etc. are also good for stimulating finger tips.
