1997, seven years after my first encounter with Oriental Medicine, I began my own practice. Since then, the combination of current research and traditional medicine guides my ongoing learning. I’m fascinated by the complex ways in which we can create resilience and keep returning to, and building Health that is both responsive and dynamic. My orientation to practice : Whether your concern is physical, psychological-emotional, spiritual and/ or energetic, I think of myself as a facilitator who has developed skills to foster your innate ability to return to a healthy equilibrium. My practice is informed by the belief that our beings are all equipped with the innate wisdom to heal ourselves . Sometimes this ability is derailed by a perfect storm of stressors which can result in pain and Dis-Ease. The practice of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine+ offers a variety of effective approaches to help re-connect us with a dynamic Health, encouraging our true nature to take over and blossom! Over the decades, to develop my skills and the modalities I practice , I have studied a variety of different styles of acupuncture and treatment. Although I practice a predominately Japanese style of gentle, constitutional acupuncture, I also have extensive training in musculo-skeletal and Sports Medicine style needling. Regardless of the style of needling, treatment will often integrate body-, fascial- and/or lymphatic-work, Biodynamic CranioSacral Therapy, counseling and any of a variety of herbal traditions to support the overall treatment. For those who are shy of needles , the three alternatives of acupressure, or traditional teishin, or the current technology of cold-laser can each be effective alternatives. Tools and applications used: Needles, teishin, “needle-less acupuncture” with cold laser, micro-current stimulation, E-moxa, Cupping, Gua sha, liniments and poultices, essential oils, TDP infrared heat lamp, moxa spray Who would benefit from this work Whether your concern is acute, or chronic - or, you are interested in creating a more dynamically responsive health, I am honoured to be able to bring my attention and experience to facilitate your process. I welcome new patients, and am registered and equally happy to work with ICBC claims as well as DND and DVA personnel. Please feel welcomed to book an Introductory Session to see if the work we can do together may be a good fit for you.
