I am a graduate of the Community College of Rhode Island’s Therapeutic Massage Degree Program. I hold my certification in massage therapy and am currently working on my Associates Degree in Applied Science. My interest in the healing powers of touch was planted long ago. As a child only twelve years of age, I suffered from a critical illness that kept me in a Rhode Island Hospital for months. The most profound communication was through my mother’s touch: feeling the unexplainable healing energy in just a touch was powerful for me even at such a young age. This experience made a lasting life impression on me. For 25+ years I was a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer at various local gyms in Rhode Island and Connecticut. After raising a family, it was time to pursue a career in massage therapy. So finally, at 54 years old, I went back to school. While at CCRI, I trained in Swedish and deep tissue techniques, as well as sports massage/advanced sports massage and Eastern/Western Modalities such as acupressure and shiatsu. I interned at Optimal Wellness and ProActive physical therapy, where I gained a lot of insight and knowledge. I am also a member of ABMP. The Rhode Island Department of Health gave honorable mention to myself as well as my 2019 graduating classmates in January of 2020, recognizing our leadership as healthcare providers to promote a culture of safe pain management for all patients in Rhode Island. I believe above all else that being in tune with my clients and genuinely listening to their needs is critical. My sincere care for others is the tool which I use to help them to heal. Now in 2022, I still continue to stay up to date on my education; I am certified in MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage), Positional release techniques, Cupping for the body, Cupping for the face and sinuses and Myofascial release for the upper and lower body.
