Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Spencer Stel has considered Aldergrove, BC to be his home since the fall of 2009 when he began his training at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in New Westminster. Spencer completed a 3,000-hour 3-year program in December 2011 and became fully registered in 2012. During his studies, he received a Clinical Case Report Award from the MTABC for his research related to the effects of Swedish Massage on idiopathic scoliosis. In his 15+ years of active practice, Spencer has treated athletic injuries, motor vehicle accident injuries, whiplash, as well as overuse and repetitive use injuries. He has also worked with geriatric and pediatric patients and provided massage therapy to Trinity Western University’s athletes as part of their therapy team. Spencer believes that massage therapy can serve as an important complement to chiropractic work by addressing soft tissue changes in order to enhance the success of chiropractic adjustments. His goal is not only to relieve symptoms, but also to prevent them from recurring in the future. As a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), Spencer is certified to offer services including: Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Active and Passive Stretching, Muscle Energy Techniques, Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Joint Mobilization, Hydrotherapy, Contractile Myofascial Release, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Technique, Ligamentus Articular Strain Technique (L.A.S.T.), and Athletic Taping. Spencer is a registrant of the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia and the Registered Massage Therapy Association of British Columbia. Spencer lives in Aldergrove with his wife, Karmen, and 3 little people.
