Shawn was fortunate to represent Canada at the IAAF World Junior Championships in High Jump. Shawn was born and raised in the Greater Vancouver area, fully immersed in the world of sports throughout his life with all the injuries to prove it. From a very young age, he was obsessed with the process of rehabilitation from both injuries and illnesses. As a former international- Caliber track and field athlete and cancer survivor he prides himself in advocating and promoting positive health behaviours in others. Shawn is very passionate about working with patients of all ages and functions, although he has a special interest in treating patients in the sporting community and people suffering from persistent pain. Shawn is a member of both of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s pain science & sport divisions. Currently, he is pursuing his Sport Physiotherapy Certificate. Shawn’s philosophy and approach to physiotherapy has always been to empower his patients through education, safe and functional exercise progressions and manual techniques hoping to equip them with the tools they need to better maximize their function. He is also trained in intramuscular stimulation(IMS)/dry needling. Shawn places a special emphasis on spending 1 on 1 time with his patients to help them better understand their pain. In his spare time, he loves spending time with friends and family, exploring music, playing basketball, working out, going on outdoor adventures, and recently developed a love for surfing/bouldering.
