Dr. Emily Howell was born and raised in Toronto’s East End. She has always had an interest in health and preventative medicine. After receiving chiropractic care as a child for headaches and acupuncture as a teenager, she was convinced this was the route to follow for her career path of helping others. She graduated with honours from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education in 2000. She then attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto and graduated in 2004. She completed a two-year acupuncture course given by the Acupuncture Council of Ontario and CMCC in 2005. In 2011, she fulfilled the requirements to become a Fellow of the Chiropractic College of Physical and Occupational Rehabilitation in Canada – FCCPOR(C) and holds a specialty designation as a chiropractic rehabilitation specialist (one of only five specialties recognized by the College of Chiropractors of Ontario). She continues to partake in continuing education on a regular basis. In 2015 she was certified as a pre and post natal pelvic floor trainer through Bellies Inc. Dr. Emily is the Clinic Director and Owner of Ashbridge’s Health Centre. She is a member of CMCC, CCO, OCA, CCA, and the ACO. Dr. Emily treats patients of all ages, stages of life and personal health goals to assist them in reducing pain, strengthen injured structures to prevent re-occurrence and using clinical evidence to support treatment. She has a keen interest in female care, particularly with pre and post natal patients. Her goal in practice is to use evidence-based, patient centered care and build trust based partnerships with her patients using chiropractic, acupuncture, rehabilitative exercise, orthotics, and soft tissue therapy. This can be for patients in acute or chronic pain or for those patients seeking maintenance/preventative care in most areas of the body (spinal and in non-spinal joints). She successfully treats patients of all different backrounds, including: pre and post natal, pediatric to seniors, recreational and athletic. Dr. Emily is a regular volunteer guest speaker for various groups, is a volunteer leader for the Girl Guides of Canada and serves as a board member and treasure for the FCCPOR (C). Dr. Howell also speaks French. She continues to pursue a wide variety of athletic activities and is the proud mother of two. She enjoys being a part of a patient’s health care team to educate and empower patients to help themselves.
