Dr. Derek’s journey in health and sports science reflects a deep commitment to both the academic and practical aspects of human performance. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, concentrating in Disability Studies, from Stony Brook University in New York, all while competing as a Division I lacrosse player. He later earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. His unique educational background, combined with his years of experience as a professional athlete, has shaped Dr. Derek’s approach to holistic patient care. He focuses on evidence-based, individualized treatment plans that include techniques such as diversified adjusting, modified Gonstead adjustments, myofascial release, extracorporeal shockwave therapy and therapeutic exercise. In 2019, Dr. Derek was drafted by the Vancouver Warriors of the National Lacrosse League (NLL), where he played multiple seasons. During the summer months you can find him locally competing with the Victoria Shamrocks. He is entering his 6thseason with the team in hopes of winning the prestigious Mann Cup Championship. His firsthand experience with sports injuries and recovery allows him to provide invaluable insight into rehabilitation and recovery for athletes of all levels. Dr. Derek works with individuals of all ages and activity levels, including elite youth athletes. He has served as sideline support for the Elev8 Lacrosse Program, managing on-field injuries, providing treatment, and creating long-term recovery plans for players. His passion lies in helping individuals improve their quality of life, enhance mobility, and achieve their unique personal goals.
