I am an experienced registered massage therapist practicing for over 27 years. I graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 1998 and have been a member of the College of Massage Therapist of Ontario since 1999. My post-graduate work includes Pre- and Post-Pregnancy and Infant Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Scapular Stretch and Rotator Cuff Release Workshop, Reflexology, along with courses in Sports Massage, Nerve Mobilization Training & Cupping. I have experience in the use of such therapies as deep tissue, scapular stretch, and rotator cuff release, trigger point therapy, and nerve mobilization techniques. I use these and other techniques to assist in the recovery from injuries, such as repetitive strain injury. I continue to attend workshops to advance my present modalities as well as learn new and complementary techniques. I have built my practice and demonstrate the benefit of massage through prescribing appropriate “home care” exercises that are specific to each client’s needs. My passion comes from working in an environment that is forever challenging. I strive to create an environment based on trust, mutual respect, and compassion. Outside the treatment room, I enjoy traveling, my furry friends, and anything that included being close to the water’s edge. I look forward to meeting you on your path to achieve and maintain optimal health.
Imagine lying on a table with warm stones beneath you, tucked around your sides, nestled between your toes, and resting on various points of your body. The warmth of the stones deeply relaxes your body and mind. Hot stone massage involves the application of, and massage with, water-heated basalt stones of varying sizes. The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than with regular massage while creating a feeling of warmth and comfort. Cold stones can also be used with this technique to increase lymphatic flow in the body.
