Jan’s Contact: [email protected] ….., Jan completed the registered massage therapy program at Vancouver College of Massage Therapy in December 2020. His passion for athletics and growing interest in human anatomy led him to pursue a career in the health and fitness industry. He’s been a fitness trainer for 7 years and has extended his profession into becoming an RMT. Having worked with various types of athletes, he has a strong belief that all those who require movement of their body are considered an athlete in their own respective ways. His experience working with athletes and the general population showed him the importance of helping people improve their range of motion to achieve positions that are required for their specific lifestyle. One of his goals is to continue helping clients develop spatial and proprioceptive awareness to further stabilize the body in these newfound positions. Jan’s philosophy involves viewing and treating the body as a whole. His approach towards manual therapeutic treatments can build a strong foundation, progression in posture, kinematics, and biomechanics in his patients. What makes Jan unique is that he views a patient’s pain as a symptom not the root cause in many cases and he enjoys a challenge when it comes to pursuing these answers. In his treatments, Jan incorporates a variety of techniques and modalities including soft tissue approximation, trigger point release techniques, myofascial release techniques, PNF stretching, joint mobilizations, muscle activation, and active release. Jan has had 15 years of experience playing and coaching basketball, 3-5 years of playing football, and enjoys being highly active in the gym, hiking, and paddleboarding. He has competed in powerlifting for four years working up to be a National level competitive lifter in the 93kg weight class and recently placed 1st in the 105kg division at the 2020 UBC Powerlifting Championships, totaling nearly 1500lbs in all three respective lifts. Jan’s background in sports and his physical and psychological transformation is what inspired him to be the therapist he is today. He is motivated to inspire and help others achieve their goals and find their own strength in any movement. My results-focused massage techniques combine overuse injuries, sports injuries, nerve injuries, movement restrictions, underactive muscle groups, shoulder, foot/ankle, knee, and hip injuries.
