Massage Therapy
Lymphatic Drainage
Lymphatic drainage massage is a hands-on therapy using gentle pressure that encourage the movement of lymph fluid throughout the body. This type of therapy involves a series of skin stretching and gliding motions intended to stimulate the lymphatic system and increase the flow of lymph through the tissues and lymph nodes, where toxins in the body are filtered. Your lymphatic system is actually a part of your immune system and is a large network of tissues, vessels and organs that work together synergistically to do everything from transport and remove cellular waste to maintain fluid levels in your body. When your lymphatic system is sluggish, it affects not only your health but also your skin. You can look dull, congested and puffy all over if you aren't properly caring for your lymphatic system. The massage therapist will follow a particular sequence, using a series of massage techniques, including stretching, compressing, gliding, and cupping motions. Light rhythmic movements stimulate the lymphatic system without pressing hard on the vessel. They make the lymph fluid move easily through the nodes and tissues, making sure the fluid doesn't get trapped anywhere in the body!
