I received my undergraduate degree in History from San Diego State University. As part of my studies, I traveled to China, as part of the National Youth Leadership Forum on Integrated Medicine. Over the course of a month, I spent time in three of China’s largest public hospitals, and witnessed the high level of integration between western medicine and Chinese medicine. The large patient population in China is treated at very low costs through the economical approaches of integrative Chinese medicine. Seeing a government providing managed care for such a large number of people was a powerful experience, and I brought home a deeper appreciation for China’s culture and history. A severe shoulder injury was my own personal introduction to acupuncture as a patient. When I was faced with the prospect of invasive surgical repairs, my experience in China directed my care straight towards an Acupuncturist. I devoted myself to the treatment plan and rehabilitation, and recovered fully from my injury, without surgery. This experience was the catalyst for my enrollment in the four year Master of Science program in integrative Chinese medicine. Over the years, I have returned to China to further my studies, and have committed myself to the specialty of Women’s Health and Obstetrics. I have completed several advanced programs in womens health care with Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture, and continue to focus on my primary patient base. I am Board Certified with the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine which should give patient’s the confidence that they will receive a level of care which is much higher than the average general practitioner when it comes to their reporductive health needs.
