Dr. Schaefer began his academic journey attending Brock University for a Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences where he received First Class Honours. During this time, he developed a passion for strength training and working with athletes, gaining practical experience treating competitors at the national level, including the Canada Games. Throughout his degree, he also published research examining the effects of ergonomics on the musculoskeletal system. Following his undergraduate degree, Dr. Schaefer was granted early acceptance into the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto, where he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic. While at CMCC, he mentored junior students during practical examinations and completed his first clinical placement at St. John’s Rehabilitation Hospital, treating a wide range of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. He then returned home to complete his final clinical placement at the Niagara Health & Rehab Centre, gaining further hands-on experience with the local community. Dr. Schaefer takes a practical, results-driven approach, combining hands-on treatment, soft tissue work, acupuncture, and personalized rehabilitation. He believes that addressing the underlying cause of dysfunction and improving movement quality is key to effectively managing injuries, helping patients return to the activities they enjoy with confidence and resilience. Outside the clinic, Dr. Schaefer stays active through fitness competitions such as HYROX and running half marathons. He also shares his knowledge and experience with the next generation of healthcare professionals by lecturing in the FitLink program at Brock University. When he’s not training or teaching, he can be found cheering passionately for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
