Joy graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and has been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2009. She spent a number of years working in the corporate environment before returning to her science roots to pursue a career in massage therapy. This decision was made out of a desire help people maintain their health and active lifestyles. Joy’s practice includes, but is not limited to, treatment of sport injuries, overuse injuries, postural imbalances, and stress relief. She uses a wide range of massage techniques, with a preference towards myofascial release, deep tissue massage, trigger-point therapy, sports massage, and Swedish massage techniques. Joy likes to stay active in her spare time kayaking and hiking. She welcomes both new and returning clients.
**Choose this option if this is your FIRST Massage Therapy visit with our clinic** Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are trained in the assessment and treatment of soft tissue of the body, prevention of injury, pain and physical disorders. Working collaboratively with you, your massage therapist will perform a thorough assessment to identify and address the areas of the body that would benefit from treatment. Specific strengthening, stretching, posture and range of motion exercises may also be a part of your post treatment.
