Alok graduated with honors from McMaster University with a degree in Kinesiology. Throughout his studies he worked at McMaster University’s sports medicine clinic where he gained valuable experience in treating various types of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. His studies were focused on functional anatomy, biomechanics, and human physiology. Alok’s interest in Osteopathy developed when he learned of the story of a family friend. Their son was born with clubbed feet, and at the age of 4 was still unable to walk. The mother sought medical advice and was told surgery was the only option. While her son was placed on the waitlist, she decided to take him to see an osteopath. To her astonishment, within 6 months her son was showing marked improvement, and within 1 year was able to walk normally without surgery! Inspired by the outcome of this case and the effectiveness of osteopathic therapy for himself and others, Alok decided to become an osteopathic practitioner. In addition to his manual therapy, Alok strongly believes in educating his patients on how they can become better aware of their bodies, to help detect and prevent any issues that may arise. Osteopathy embraces the philosophy that the body is one integrated functional unit. Everything has a cause and effect. In order to treat a problem, the root cause must be identified in order to create any lasting change. Alok always explains his treatment protocol to help patients better understand why their issues may have started, along with a systematic approach to recovery during treatment. Alok continues to follow his passion to help others by expanding his education and knowledge with advanced studies. Initial Assessment and Treatment - 60 minutes

Initial assessment and treatment - osteopath will take a complete case history asking questions about the client’s medical history and the problem(s) that has brought them to seek therapy. A client’s daily routine and lifestyle questions may be asked as the answers may provide clues to help make the correct findings. A holistic approach is taken of the entire body that will assess the body structure and systems. Many times specific complaints such as pain in one area (ie. Neck pain) or joint immobility (ie. Decreased shoulder movement) are actually caused by misalignments and restrictions elsewhere in the body . The osteopath will examine your muscles, joints, spine and organs by using palpation and through various movements. Treatment is done with clothes on, preferring comfortable, thin fabric (eg. yoga pants/activewear/sports bra/tank for women and shorts/t-shirt/tank/sweatpants for men)
