Originally wanting to keep myself feeling healthy in strength training, my interest in massage eventually - over a period of several years - lead me to pursuing an education in clinical massage therapy at the New Hampshire Institute for Therapeutic Arts - the only COMTA accredited school in the state. Years ago I gradually became more interested in seeing if the few clumsy techniques I used on myself would help others... primarily reluctant family. Eventually, people started getting much less reluctant and friends started recruiting while telling me I should really go to school for massage. If they thought I was that naturally inclined towards manual therapy and bringing physical healing to people, I began to wonder what I could really be able to do if I actually knew what I was doing and had formal training. So, I decided to believe them and took their advice. It took me about 3 years between the time I decided I wanted to pursue formal massage therapy education and training and the time I finally found the right program that would teach me how to perform clinically effective, therapeutically meaningful work that would enable me to give my clients the best chance of feeling the biggest improvement after the limited time I had with them. I found NHITA the week before their next program started. After touring the school I applied, registered, and started the next week. ...One of the best decisions I ever made.
