Dr. Leandra Petursson (AKA Dr. Lea), grew up in Calgary, AB and first moved to the lower mainland to study Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University. She graduated from the University of Western States in Portland, OR in 2021 where she completed a Doctor of Chiropractic and Master of Science in Sports Medicine. Dr. Lea applies a hands on, patient-focused approach that includes in-clinic treatment and an at-home rehab plan. She uses a variety of treatment techniques including chiropractic adjustments, joint mobilizations, cupping, active release (ART), stretching, instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation (IASTM), and taping. She believes in empowering patients with the tools they need for recovery from injury and prevention of re-injury in the future. As a youth, Dr. Lea played multiple sports growing up including soccer, volleyball, and rugby; and she continues to play soccer in the MWSL. After suffering an ACL tear in 2022, Dr. Lea was reminded of the importance of having a supportive recovery team, and committing to a rehab and recovery plan, in order to get back in the game. Dr. Lea has worked with various youth and university athletes in clinic, and on the sidelines with sports teams including Burnaby Lakers Junior Lacrosse, Sledge Hockey Canada, and the Burnaby FC League 1 men’s & women’s soccer teams. Outside the clinic, Dr. Lea enjoys exploring nature with her dog Rocky, spending time with friends & family, and trying new cooking or baking recipes.
