Dr. Jake Salaz is a graduate of University of Western States, is nationally board certified, and licensed by the state of Oregon. Jake has been involved in sports his entire life, with competitive swimming being his main focus. After setting school, district and state records at Sam Barlow High School, he swam collegiately for the University of Washington on athletic scholarship. In 2008 he qualified for and competed at the U.S. Olympic trials. After finishing his career in swimming, he graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Following this, he was hired as the Head Coach of Maverick Aquatics where he worked with many athletes of all levels, winning the Age Group Coach of the Year award in 2012. With his background in swimming it was a natural choice to earn a Master of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Western States. His training has led him to specialize in movement assessment and exercise rehabilitation. This specialization in movement analysis was supplemented with studies under Motion Palpation Institute(MPI), Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Craig Liebenson’s Prague School to Athletic Development, and Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS).
