Shing graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science at Simon Fraser University in 2017. While on exchange during his studies in Australia, he dislocated his shoulder while playing basketball 13 times within 1 year. Along with numerous other injuries from playing basketball and weight training, this led Shing to seek help through physiotherapy and manual therapy; and further inspired Shing to pursue a career in healthcare to help others in pain. As a graduate of the massage therapy program at West Coast College of Massage Therapy, Shing was able to gain experience working with a variety of individuals in the school’s inreach and outreach programs. The outreach experiences included providing treatments to varsity level athletes at Douglas College, healthcare workers at Surrey Memorial Hospital, and providing care to individuals in the Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion. At the school inreach, he also treated individuals with a wide range of conditions such as fibromyalgia, cerebral palsy, and Parkinson’s disease. His treatments utilize a variety of techniques and are formulated using thorough assessments to provide specialized care for each individual patient. In his free time, Shing likes to play basketball, and lifting weights to stay active. When he’s not staying active, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, and binge watching Netflix whenever he can.
