Dr. Amy Snyder holds a pre-med bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA, a 4-year Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine (MTCM) degree and a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from Five Branches University in San Jose, CA. She is a California state board Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.). Prior to entering Chinese medical school, Amy spent eight years working as a chemist in pharmaceutical research at Johnson & Johnson. She is a primary care provider and is able to treat a wide variety of physical, emotional, and psychological ailments. During her second year in college, Amy had emergency surgery and was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. She struggled with flare-ups, medications, and hospitalizations for the next 10 years, all the while searching for ways to help herself through nutrition and more natural methods of healing. At one of her sickest moments, her gastroenterologist could only offer very harmful pharmaceuticals and surgery. Those were not acceptable solutions to her, so she began her search for an alternative that would actually work and get to the root of the problem. This led her to Traditional Chinese Medicine. After only 3 appointments with a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, all of her symptoms had vanished. She felt like a new person. Amy has been in remission (medication-free and without any surgery) for over 15 years now. She attributes this to acupuncture and herbs, as well as adjusting her diet according to the principles of eastern dietetics. In her post-grad work, Amy has extensively studied the diagnosis and treatment of digestive diseases and chronic illness. Her doctoral thesis was on the treatment of Crohn’s disease using herbal medicine and acupuncture. She uses specific acupuncture protocols and herbal formulas to address the complex underlying cause of each condition. Amy integrates her western medicine background with her eastern medicine expertise to provide the best possible results and care for her patients.
