During her undergraduate studies at UBC, Mariam discovered a deep fascination with anatomy, biomechanics, and the human body’s healing capabilities. After completing her Bachelor of Arts, Mariam enrolled in the 3000-hour program at VCMT and graduated with honours. She brings her extensive knowledge of anatomy as well as a background in sports into her treatment approach. Growing up playing competitive tennis and basketball, she has gained valuable knowledge relating to injuries, rehabilitation, and injury prevention. She has personally experienced the benefits of massage therapy in the treatment of repetitive stress and sports injuries, and is passionate about helping her patients reach their specific goals for optimal health. Treatments are individual-based and include a thorough assessment as well as stretching and strengthening exercises. Mariam works from a primarily myofascial approach, incorporating deep and specific techniques to address not only the area of complaint, but also the root cause of symptoms. Techniques include: deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and active and passive movements to increase soft tissue mobility and promote pain-free, functional range of motion. When Mariam is not working, her passions include keeping a healthy mind, body, and spirit. This involves hiking, meditation, and furthering her education through continuing education courses.
