Dr. Alissa Banns graduated from the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, British Columbia with a Bachelor in Kinesiology and then went on to obtain her Doctorate of Chiropractic which she received from Palmer College of Chiropractic in San Jose, California. While she was in California she was an active member of the Sports Council which allowed her to treat various types of athletes and many sports injuries. She was able to combine her love for traveling and her passion for helping people by volunteering through mission trips in El Salvador and Peru where she treated a wide range of conditions and injuries from the pediatric to the geriatric population. Dr. Banns is in constant pursuit of knowledge and is continually taking courses to enhance her ability to address musculoskeletal disorders. She has had training in Functional Movement Taping (Rocktape), Active Release Technique (ART), Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab (FAKTR), concussion management, nutrition, extremity adjusting and exercise and rehabilitation. She was the Medical Director for the 2024 BC Summer Games. She has treated at the Cloverdale Rodeo and ValleyWest Stampede as a member of the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sport Medicine Team. She has treated at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships and works with the Maple Ridge Burrards and Langley Thunder of the Western Lacrosse Association. Dr. Banns has a special interest in treating equestrians. She has worked with elite riders of all disciplines. She strives to actively help patients achieve their sports, fitness and personal related goals. She believes that patients need to be active members of their own recovery and health. When she is not in the office you can find her on a plane off to explore an exciting new destination or horseback riding. She looks forward to helping you move better and smile more!
