Ian is a graduate of the VaCC RMT program in 2021 with past experience working primarily in healthcare rehabilitation. He has also explored opportunities as an RMT in sporting events such as the Vancouver Tennis Open, World Rugby 7’s series, Laver cup, and was a part of the Abbotsford Canucks massage therapy treatment team for two seasons. Prior to RMT school, Ian had been working in the healthcare field as a rehabilitation assistant in several different settings in the lower mainland, where he learned the importance of different types of therapy by directly assisting his colleagues who practiced in the areas of Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, and Speech-language pathology. Through these opportunities, Ian understood the value of patient centred care and continues to apply that in each of his sessions as a massage practitioner. Ian understands that not everyone presents the same, therefore, treatment is individualized for your unique needs. It is important for him to work alongside his patients to aim to restore overall function, provide relief, and identify any barriers to recovery. A typical treatment with Ian could include various modalities such as trigger point therapy, myofascial release, joint mobilizations, deep tissue, Swedish massage, and hydrotherapy; all the while centering the sessions on bringing awareness to the areas of the body that need it most. Alongside treatment, Ian is committed to making a homecare plan with therapeutic exercise and movements/stretches to help supplement you in getting back to whatever it is you love doing.
