120 - 10 Pelican Pl, Sylvan Lake, AB, T4S 1K2

Dr. Allison Knelsen was born and raised in Three Hills, Alberta. After a lifetime of chiropractic care herself, and then a severe waterskiing back injury after high school, she knew without a doubt she wanted to be a chiropractor. She attended RDC where she played basketball for 2 years and took pre-chiropractic, and then attended U of A studying Biological Sciences. She then attended Northwestern Health Sciences University, in Bloomington, Minnesota, where she graduated suma cum laud with a Doctorate of Chiropractic and a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology. After graduation she returned to Canada and worked at Sylvan Lake Chiropractic Clinic for 5 years, and then at Trinity Chiropractic Laser in Red Deer for 5 years. After birthing and raising 4 kiddos, she decided to finally fulfill her dream of opening a clinic and serving the people of her community with much needed wellness services. While in school, she developed a passion for the field of Functional Neurology and enrolled in the Carrick Institute’s diplomat program. In 2014 she completed her 300 hours of study and graduated with a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board. Since then she has been treating a variety of patients and conditions, and uses a wide range of techniques and treatments to help serve her patients better. In addition to Functional Neurology, Dr. Allison also has a passion for pregnancy care, infancy, postnatal rehabilitation and early childhood development. She had all 4 of her babies with midwives and 3 of them were born naturally at home. Having discovered she was a celiac at the age of 18, she also has a passion for diet and nutrition and addressing complex health issues holistically and has studied many different diets and their benefits over the years, including gluten-free/dairy-free, GAPS, SIBO, autoimmune paleo, keto, low histamine, etc. She ran a gluten free club at her chiropractic school. She also loves art, music, cooking and gardening, as well as spending time at the beach with her 4 kiddos. She volunteers for the LCA school board in Sylvan Lake and enjoys mentoring other women and helping hurting people find meaningful community.
