Dr. Ryan Takagi’s passion for physical well-being inspired him to pursue a Bachelor of Kinesiology and a Doctor of Chiropractic. He uses joint manipulation and mobilization, a variety of soft tissue techniques, rehabilitative exercises, shockwave, and lifestyle education to keep his patients functioning optimally. While completing his Doctor of Chiropractic, he developed an interest in nutrition, which led him to a Master of Science in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine. He is interested in sports injuries (including extremities and concussions), and complex and chronic pain conditions (such as arthritis or fibromyalgia). He loves that every day is different, and that he gets to interact with people on a personal level. For him, health has always been a resource for living and not the objective. He likes being a resource for others. In addition to his Chiropractic practice, he is the Lead Faculty for the Tanzania Rehabilitation Project through the Global Peace Network, which is working to improve physical rehabilitation resources in Tanzania through education and capacity building. He grew up in a small town in the BC interior. Like many Canadian kids, he grew up playing hockey. One of his first jobs was driving the zamboni at the rink. After many years playing hockey, he switched to varsity rowing in University — one of the most physically challenging sports he has done. Now, he runs, hikes, and bikes when he has time.
