Dr. Yau was born and raised in Hong Kong. She moved to Calgary with her family in 2004 and has since called the city her home. She completed her Doctor of Chiropractic in Toronto at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, graduating Magna Cum Lauda. Prior to pursuing a career in Chiropractic, she worked as Medical Laboratory Technologist in Calgary after obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science from the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Dr. Yau believes in an evidence-informed model of care and practices diversified chiropractic techniques to help optimize patients’ health and function. She has attended seminars on manual therapies which aim to restore muscle and joint movements including Graston Level 1, Rocktape Kinesiology Taping and Movement Specialist, Mulligan Mobilization with Movement (Upper Quadrant), and Activator (Basics). She has also completed the McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program. During her clinical internship, Dr. Yau has worked with specialized patient demographics including elderly, chronic pain, and people with physical and psychological co-morbidities. This experience has strengthened her passion to serve the geriatric population and the underserved. She is committed to her roles as a health practitioner and educator, and she strives to deliver appreciate the care for her patients to the best of her abilities.
