Dr. Katie Gaskin is a Chiropractor, strength and conditioning specialist, collegiate-level hockey coach, and former professional hockey player. Having reached the pinnacle of her sport, she understands that physical optimization, maintenance, and recovery are paramount for top performance. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Dr. Katie was offered a full athletic scholarship to play Division I ice hockey at Wayne State University in Michigan. Here, she majored in Sport & Exercise Science and was named to the College Hockey America Academic All-Star Team. She then transferred to Elmira College for the second half of her collegiate career, where she led her team to a NCAA National Championship title in 2013 as team captain. She graduated from Elmira in 2014 with a degree in Biology and has since been named to the Elmira College Athletics Hall of Fame (2024). Dr. Katie earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, where she graduated with honors in 2019. While pursuing her degree, she played professional ice hockey for three years with the Toronto Furies (CWHL). She is a board-certified chiropractor in both the US and Canada. After graduation, she relocated to Vancouver, BC Canada where she worked in a sports performance clinic treating athletes of all levels: from weekend warriors to Olympic and national-level athletes. Additionally, she served as the Director of Performance for Delta Athletic Group and was a sports performance & rehab consultant for various teams and organizations within the Vancouver area. In addition to her work in the clinic, she is an Assistant Coach for Suffolk University Women’s Ice Hockey Team, where she specializes in power-skating and skills development. She also assists with the team’s strength and conditioning programming. Dr. Katie enjoys working with active individuals and athletes of all levels. Her approach emphasizes compassionate, evidence-based care and involves a detailed assessment of functional movement patterns. From here, she looks to reveal the root of pain/dysfunction to ensure optimal outcomes are achieved. She understands the importance of individualized care and will synthesize a treatment plan utilizing various therapeutic methods, including soft tissue therapy, joint adjustments, dry needling, Graston, and rehab exercise/strength programming. Her goal is to empower you with a thorough understanding of your pain or injury and equip you with a plan to reach your long-term health and performance goals. Due to personal experience during her hockey career, she has a special interest in concussion assessment and management and is a Concussion Management Practitioner through Complete Concussions. She also has additional certifications in Active Release Therapy (ART), Functional Medical Acupuncture (McMaster University), Functional Movement Screening (FMS), Shockwave Therapy, Kinesiology/Athletic Taping (FMT), and Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS). When she’s not in the clinic or at the rink, she enjoys trail running with her dog, strength training, scoping out new coffee shops, and cooking! She is looking forward to exploring all the incredible trails New England has to offer and is currently training to complete an ultramarathon.
