Dr. McFarlane has been in private acupuncture practice for nearly two decades. He has also taught acupuncture for the Calgary College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (2017- 2023) and for the acupuncture and massage therapy programs at Grant MacEwan University (2005-2017). He holds a B.Sc. from the University of Alberta, is a graduate of the Grant MacEwan Acupuncture Program in Edmonton, Alberta and took part in an internship program in China where he completed courses in acupuncture, Tai Chi, and Chinese Massage. Over his many years of practice, Dr. McFarlane has previously run a volunteer community acupuncture clinic in Downtown Edmonton, has practiced, and has been a trainer, for the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA), as well as spending many years as a practitioner of Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET). While he has let these designations lapse, he still retains the wealth of knowledge that he accumulated during his practice in these areas. Currently, Dr. McFarlane focuses on the treatment of musculoskeletal issues, chronic pain, and headaches/migraines. Dr. McFarlane is currently sits the council for the College of Acupuncturists of Alberta, helping to regulate the practice of acupuncture in Alberta.
