To be completely honest, I never envisioned myself as a doctor. My path to medicine was not linear, and I am grateful for that. It allowed me to experience everything between waiting tables, traveling to over 30 countries and working with U.S. Embassies around the world to promote cultural awareness and appreciation. All experiences which have shaped me into the hard-working, well-rounded and empathetic practitioner that I am today. My personal healing journey began during my undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa, where I made some major lifestyle changes. Consequently, a better path to health began to illuminate itself to me. A few years later while I was teaching English in Sevilla, Spain, I experienced radical health for the first time. That year was a turning point in my life. It was when I recognized the importance of community, stress and the environment in relation to health. After completing a rigorous accelerated prerequisite medical program, it was time to take the next step in making my calling a reality. This is when I moved to Portland, Oregon to attend the oldest school of naturopathic medicine in the country. Five years later, I obtained my doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine. I currently hold a naturopathic medical license in the state of Oregon, where I live with my fiancé and toddler. I also have a satellite practice in Lincoln Park, Chicago so I can stay connected and give back to the community where I am from. How I Practice- My approach to medicine is medically based and naturally focused with an emphasis on individualized and collaborative care. There is no one-size-fits-all cure. In order to see results, we will need to work together to get to the root cause of health issues. I practice a trauma-informed and body-positive model of care. I accept people of all ages, shapes, colors, gender and sexual identifications and backgrounds. My practice is a safe space, and I will always do my best to make you feel that way. You can expect transparency when working with me. I may not have all the answers. I’ll let you know if I need to do more research, and I will always provide a referral for cases that are outside my scope of practice.
