Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Honours in Kinesiology from Queen’s University Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto Member of the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC Continued professional development in: -Advanced manual and manipulative therapy -Dry needling -Vestibular rehabilitation -Clinical bike fitting and cycling related overuse injuries -Prevention of running injuries About: Andrea is originally from Ontario and moved to BC in 2019 (for the mountains!). She grew up playing competitive hockey and also competed in cross country running, track, soccer and speed skating. After dealing with a persistent knee injury, she started running less and cycling more, which began her love of mountain biking. She went on to race mountain bikes at the elite level for both Queen’s University and the University of Toronto. Approach: With a broad spectrum of sport knowledge and training background, Andrea is well equipped to determine the best approach to help you get back to sport, back to racing, or back to your everyday activities. She uses a hands-on approach combining manual therapy with exercise prescription tailored to your needs. Whether you’re dealing with a longstanding issue or a recent injury, she provides the guidance and programming you need to reach your performance or recovery goals. Why she became a Physiotherapist: Andrea has always been interested in human anatomy and the body’s ability to adapt and recover from injury. After attending physiotherapy for her own injuries, she experienced firsthand the value of combining hands-on treatment with exercise-based rehab to support a full recovery. She still feels grateful to have found a career she loves. Athletics: Andrea is currently a competitive trail runner and mountain bike racer, competing in marathon cross country and enduro events. She has also raced ultramarathons and off-road triathlons, though the 25 km trail distance is currently her favourite. Outside of training and racing, she loves spending time in the mountains with friends. In the winter, she can be found backcountry skiing and cross country skiing, and in the summer she enjoys hiking and bikepacking. Something you should know about her: Andrea’s “happy place” is pushing her physical and mental limits in the mountains. On Saturday mornings, she is a run leader with Salomon Trail Lab, where she helps lead community trail runs on local North Shore trails throughout the winter. She loves being part of the trail running community and enjoys connecting with others who share a love for the outdoors.
