Ashlea obtained her Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology degree with a minor in Health Studies from McMaster University, and continued her education at the University of Toronto completing her Master of Science in Physical Therapy. Ashlea is committed to ongoing learning and has earned her Advanced Diploma in Manual and Manipulative Therapy from the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She is a CAMPT-Certified Physiotherapist and is a Fellow in the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT). By completing this rigorous post-graduate training, she has attained internationally recognized qualifications in orthopaedic theory, clinical reasoning and hands-on manual therapy skills. She has also completed further training with a focus on shoulder rehabilitation. Ashlea also has extensive neurofunctional acupuncture training through the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program at McMaster University. This acupuncture training is an University-based education program designed for qualified health professionals interested in integrating electroacupuncture into their practice. Ashlea has seen continued benefits from incorporating this specialized type of acupuncture into the treatments for her patients. Ashlea has provided primary physiotherapy care for many notable Toronto events including the Toronto Ultimate Club summer championships; was a Dance and Performing Arts Treatment provider, and was the head physiotherapist providing treatment at the Princess of Wales Theatre for the Toronto productions of Priscilla Queen of the Desert and HAIR. In addition to her breadth of experience, Ashlea is trained to assess, measure and fit patients with off-the-shelf and custom braces for conditions varying from knee osteoarthritis, ACL injuries, patellofemoral pain, ligament instabilities and meniscal injuries. Ashlea loves what she does and strives to provide each patient with individualized, research-guided treatment. Her focus incorporates advanced manual therapy techniques, electroacupuncture and specific exercise prescription. When she is not at the clinic, she is running around with her two little boys, husband and dog. She loves to stay active by being outside, working out, and playing basketball and baseball. She is committed to lifelong mobility and wants to help her clients keep moving too!
