Aqil's path to physiotherapy began at a young age due to his lifelong love for sports, and truly emerged while he was completing his bachelor's degree in Behavioural Neuroscience at Simon Fraser University. Viewing it as an opportunity to broaden his horizons and see the world, Aqil earned his master's degree in Physiotherapy from Brunel University London in the UK. Living with a sibling who has developmental delays, Aqil has seen firsthand the profound impact that various forms of therapy can provide. This inspired him to give back to the community and aid others in their rehabilitative journeys to the best of his abilities. Aqil firmly believes that movement is medicine. He utilizes a functional approach - combining evidence-based manual therapy and exercise - to get you back to feeling your best. He also believes the ultimate goal of physiotherapy is to give you the tools to be an advocate for your own health, providing the education needed to empower your understanding. Aqil has worked in a wide range of rehabilitation settings, from orthopedics and pediatrics to hospital and private practice clinics. These diverse experiences have given him a deep comfort level and understanding when working with many different populations. Moving forward, he is eager to further his skillset in sports injuries and soft tissue techniques to provide the best possible care for his clients. In his free time, Aqil loves to stay active. He is an avid ball hockey player and an overall hockey fan, and also enjoys skiing, snowboarding, ultimate frisbee, tennis, hiking, and running - having run numerous half marathons. To round it all out, he loves traveling and tracking down great food!
A 60-minute Physiotherapy Initial Assessment is designed to thoroughly understand your condition and create a personalized plan to help you reach your health goals. During your first visit, your physiotherapist will begin with a comprehensive assessment, which includes discussing your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and goals for recovery. This is followed by a detailed physical examination to assess movement, strength, mobility, and any areas of pain or dysfunction. Based on these findings, your physiotherapist will explain the cause of your symptoms and how they relate to your body and movement patterns. Together, you will collaborate on a personalized care plan designed to support your recovery and help you achieve your healthcare goals. Our clinic specializes in manual therapy, soft tissue release, and active rehabilitation, and treatment may begin during the same session. When appropriate, your physiotherapist may also incorporate additional techniques such as IMS dry needling, sport taping, or shockwave therapy to support your recovery. Our goal is to ensure you leave your first session with a clear understanding of your condition, a structured treatment plan, and the confidence that you are on the right path toward recovery.
