Yael’s initial interest in the diversity in approach to the human condition is evidenced by her early career choice to pursue a BA degree in Cultural Anthropology, with an emphasis in the Anthropology of Medical Practice from UCSD. As Managing Editor of the Journal of Medicinal Food, she has maintained her strong ties to traditional western science and medicine, while forging to bridge the gap between what was once a great distance between Eastern and Western approaches to health and well-being. Certified as a licensed acupuncturist, both by the California Acupuncture Board as well as nationally, she earned her Masters of Science Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego. Yael employs a combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, Herbology, Tui Na, Qi Gong and postural alignment exercises, as well as diet and lifestyle modifications as needed to help her patients restore and maintain their health and well being. She has served a two-year internship with Vasa Mik in the application of Acupunture Techniques to specifically address issues involving Orthopedic and Sports Medicine applications. Yael’s other interests include internal medicine, drug and alcohol addiction, women’s health/infertility issues, mental health (neurology), endocrinology, gastrointestinal dysfunction and pain diseases, immune disorders, and overall illness prevention. Yael believes that it is never too late in life to turn your health around and begin living a stronger more satisfying existence.
