Ken Edmondson BA, RMT, SMT(cc) Ken is approaching his twentieth year as a Registered Massage Therapist with little interest in slowing down. Before becoming an RMT, he studied at the University of Guelph completing a B.A. in Psychology, with a minor in Biological Science. Currently, Ken has been working towards a diploma with the C.S.M.T.A (Certified Sports Massage Therapy Association) with an emphasis upon treating athletic injuries. Some of his most enjoyable athletic experiences were as a Provincial rugby player and as a Varsity swimmer while at the University of Guelph. Ken has been an avid runner for more than 30 years, and has had the opportunity to complete several half and full marathons as well as triathlons. He considers himself very fortunate to have found a balance between a passion for sports and a professional interest in the growing field of sports rehabilitation. The emphasis of his practice over the past few years has evolved from treating the injuries of athletes to evaluating risk and preventing them from getting injured. This treatment philosophy represents a relatively new approach - sometimes referred to as ‘prehabilitation’ - that involves combining case history and assessment with a specific and focused treatment approach. For several years Ken has been involved with coaching and training within the Waterloo Minor Hockey Association, and frequently serves as a consulting therapist with the Wilmot Aquatic Aces Swim Club. Ken feels extremely privileged to be included in the health care team at Waterloo Sports Medicine and he is proud of the reputation WSM has, and will no doubt continue to have, in the K-W area.
