MASSAGE THERAPY on Dunbar & in Point Grey

Makayla takes an individualized, assessment-based approach to massage therapy, with a focus on identifying and addressing the underlying causes of her clients’ pain, discomfort, and movement limitations. Drawing on her extensive knowledge of anatomy from her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from Brock University, as well as her Massage Therapy diploma from Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy, she tailors each treatment to the unique needs and goals of every client. Each appointment begins with a thorough assessment to help identify the primary areas of concern and guide a treatment plan that is specific to the individual. Makayla is also a third-year Osteopathic Manual Practitioner student at Sutherland-Chan School of Osteopathy in North Vancouver, where she continues to expand her knowledge of the human body and develop new hands-on techniques and approaches that complement her practice within the scope of massage therapy. Her clinical skills include Swedish massage, myofascial release, craniosacral techniques, joint mobilizations, and fascial unwinding. These approaches may be incorporated into treatment to help manage chronic pain, calm the nervous system, improve mobility, support postural awareness, and enhance overall day-to-day function and quality of life. Outside of the clinic, Makayla enjoys weightlifting, hiking, running, and playing ice hockey. Her personal experience in fitness and athletics gives her a unique perspective on injury prevention, recovery, and the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle. She is passionate about helping her clients feel confident in their bodies and supporting them in achieving their physical and wellness goals.
