About Prenatal Massage
Prenatal massage is massage therapy adapted for pregnancy. Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) with training in prenatal care use positioning — such as side-lying with supportive cushions — and techniques that are comfortable and safe through each trimester.
People commonly book prenatal massage for back and hip pain, swelling in the legs and feet, sciatica, sleep trouble, and general stress relief during pregnancy. Sessions are tailored to how far along you are and any pregnancy-related conditions, and therapists may coordinate with your prenatal care provider when appropriate.
In many regions, prenatal massage provided by registered massage therapists is covered by extended health insurance plans, the same as other massage therapy treatments.
