Massage
Massage therapy is therapeutic massage done in a relaxing environment to ensure proper function or the body's tissues and joints. Goals of massage treatment including reduction or elimination of pain, stress management, reduced muscle soreness and tension, improved circulation and recovery from exercise or injury. Patients will notice a feeling of wellbeing, greater relaxation, improved range of motion, better sleep patterns and flexibility.
Reflexology
Reflexology is based on the principle that the feet contain reflex points that correspond to each gland, organ and body part. By stimulating these points in a firm but relaxing manner the body is brought back to homeostasis. Reflexology is covered under the scope of practice of RMTs and is therefore covered under extended health care benefits when performed by a qualified massage therapist. Patients remain clothed through this treatment. Benefits are indirect and many patients fall asleep during reflexology.
